Day 1| Arrival – Addis Ababa

Arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Be met and welcomed by Ethiopia Travel Inspiration tour representative and transfer to Hotel. According to your time availability you will have Addis Ababa city tour.  Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital is a fascinating destination for pilgrims, offering a mix of historical churches, museums, and spiritual landmarks.

Day 2| Addis Ababa – Bahirdar

After early breakfast fly to Bahirdar and then you cross Lake Tana by boat to Gorgora. Lake Tana, Ethiopia’s largest Lake, is home to ancient monasteries that offer both spiritual depth and breathtaking views. These monasteries, many dating back to the 13^th and 14^th centuries, are hidden on islands and peninsulas, creating a serene and mystical atmosphere.  A journey itself is a meditative experience, offering a blend of nature, history, and faith

Day 3| Gorgora – Gondar

After breakfast, drive to Gondar, which is rich in religious history and sacred sites.  Gondar hosts one of the most spectacular Timket Celebrations, where priests carry sacred Taobots (replicas of the Ark of the Covenant) in grand processions. Also, Debrebirhan Selassie Church is known for its breathtaking murals, including the famous Angel Faces painting on the ceiling. This church is considered one of Ethiopia’s most beautiful places of worship.

Day 4| Gondar – Lalibela

Fly to Lalibela and visit the magnificent rock-hewn church of Lalibela – a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring 11 medieval churches carved from a single rock. Overnight at Lalibela

Day 5| Excursion to Yimrhane Kirstos & Asheton Mariam Church

After breakfast, an excursion to Yimrehane Kirstos, a stunning cave church built in the Axumite style, featuring intricate woodwork and ancient murals.

In the afternoon, drive to Asheton Mariam Monaster. Perched at an altitude of over 3000 meters on the rocky slopes, this monastery offers breathtaking views and a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The surrounding landscape is equally mesmerizing, with dramatic cliffs and valleys that add to the mystical aura of the region.

Day 6|  Lalibela -Addis Ababa- Axum

Fly from Lalibela to Axum via Addis Ababa. After checking in to the hotel, start the visit of Axum. Axum is Ethiopia’s ancient capital and home to St. Mary of Zion Church, believed to house the Ark of the Covenant. The church is a major pilgrimage site, especially during the Hidar Tion Festival, which celebrates the Virgin Mary with vibrant processions and prayer. 

Day 7| Full day in Axum

After breakfast finalize your visit to Axum, it is a treasure trove of ancient history, home to giant obelisks, royal tombs, and monuments that date back to the powerful kingdom of Axum.

Day 8| Drive to Hawzen

After Early breakfast, drive from Axum to Hawzen via Adwa, en route we visit Debredamo. Debredamo is one of Ethiopia’s most unique and sacred monasteries, offering both spiritual depth and adventurous pilgrimage experiences. The monastery is perched atop of a flat-topped mountain, accessible only by climbing a 15-meter cliff using a leather rope- a thrilling yet deeply spiritual experience.

Day 9|  Full day in Gerealta

After early breakfast, drive to Gheralta explore Abune Yemata Guh and Mariam Korkor churches. Abune Yemata is the 5th century rock-hewn church which is perched on a sheer cliff, requiring a challenging climb to reach. Mariam Korkor is one of the Ethiopia’s largest rock-hewn Churches.

Day 10|  Drive to Atsbe Wonberta cluster

After early breakfast, drive to Atsbe Wonberta cluster to visit some stunning rock-hewn churches, including Debreselam Mikael and Mikael Barka. These churches are perched on mountainsides, offering breathtaking views and a deep sense of history and spirituality then drive to Mekele.

Day 11|  Fly back to Addis Ababa.

In the afternoon, fly back to Addis Ababa. In the evening you will experience a cultural dinner in one of the cultural restaurants to immerse yourself in the country’s rich traditions!

Day 12|  Cultural shopping and departure.

After breakfast you will have a vibrant cultural and spiritual shopping experience, where you can find religious artifacts, handmade crosses, prayer books, traditional Ethiopian Orthodox items, traditional markets, artisan crafts, and unique souvenirs. Then, it is time to say goodbye to Ethiopia and proceed to the airport to take the flight for your country with sweet memories.  End of the tour
