Timek, Ethiopia’s Epiphany celebration on January 19 marks Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River. One of the most striking aspects of Timket is its rich array of rituals, which have their roots in ancient practices. The three-day festival features colorful processions, the blessing of water, and joyful parades with singing and dancing, while priests don their finest garments, shade by ornate brocade umbrellas.
This Epiphany tour begins in the vibrant capital, Addis Ababa, and traverses the northern historic route, visiting enchanting sites such as Axum, Lalibela, Gondar and Lake Tana, which feature several UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
